CORA will be hosting it’s very first Oceania Ranger Forum in Rotorua, New Zealand from the 18-20th October, 2022. This forum will bring together ranger professionals and conservation workers to discuss topics of common interest and concern, in an international networking and professional development event. It is expected that delegates will be from Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Papau New Guinea and possibly other Pacific Islands.
The theme of the forum will be ‘Inclusive Conservation’. The IUCN describes inclusive conservation as an approach for accommodating and balancing different visions for protected area management and for achieving socially relevant, economically productive and environmentally sustainable outcomes in protected areas, and it has the potential to integrate multiple visions for growth, development and the conservation of protected areas.
We believe this a fitting theme for our Oceania Ranger Forum, and will encourage a range of presenters, presentations, workshops, discussions, and field demonstrations over the three days.
